The Roads We Travel

Image

Hello ladies and gents! I’m so sorry for the lack of posts the last couple of weeks. Between work and the holidays things have been a little crazy. So as a special thank you I am going to share with you all one of my aboslute favorite vintage stores. In the small town of West, TX there is a fantastic store off of highway 35 south called the Style Station. I have been going here for about 6 years and I have never found another place with such great vintage at affordable prices. One of my favorite new pieces from the Style Station is this fantastic oriental jacket from the 50s. I have been wearing it none stop. Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers.

All Things That Glitter

I first learned of Ashley Darryl Designs when I was working on a bridal cover a couple years ago. Now as a southern girl I feel an instant bonding with anyone from a state lower than Virginia. Especially those people who have decided to take a chance and move to the city. Ashley was one of those people for sure. A Texas born gal she moved to the city where she divides her time between her interior design business and her jewelry design. What I love so much about her pieces are the innate vintage style, and the fact that every single one of them are gorgeous. Each piece is custom made and lovingly created by Ashley. Her pieces are also a fantastic price point compared to her contemporaries such as Tom Binns or Dannijo.

A Little Tough Love

Image

I have mentioned before in several posts my love of mixing masculine and feminine pieces to create looks. And to me nothing is more feminine then this gorgeous 1960s vintage coat that I purchased last year. I saw it sitting in a lonely little consignment store in New Jersey and fell in love. I am obsessed with the brocade detailing and the faux fur trim, but my favorite part is the hood. It has become on of my staple wardrobe pieces for this season. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

You Remind Me of the Babe

Image

The Labyrinth is by far the greatest movie of all time… Okay at least to me it is. I can remember growing up watching heroine Sarah struggling to get her brother back against tight pants wearing Goblin King Jareth played by the amazing David Bowie practically every weekend. The fashion in the movie is wonderful as well. Jareth’s outfit changes throughout the movie are fantastical and while Sarah only changes three times in the movie I absolutely love her peasant blouse outfit. So in honor of Sarah and her renaissance style here is an inspiration board. What do you think love the Labyrinth or think it is should have stayed in the 80s?

Tiny Treasures

Image

Hello lovely readers. Hope you all had a good weekend. I wanted to share with you all a fantastic jewelry line that I discovered this weekend. Miguel Ases is a Spanish-born designer that attended Madrid’s School of Arts. Now based in New York he creates gorgeous pieces using 14k gold, sterling silver and semi-precious stones. What I love about these pieces are the gorgeous use of color and texture. It’s hard to just find one piece that I love most. To see more of his wonderful pieces check out his website.

On other exciting news. I’m getting married today! Will have pictures of the wedding up soon.

Seeing Red

Ever since I was young and able to shop for myself I have loved wearing vintage. My mom kept a lot of her old clothes from the 80s and I used to raid her closet searching for pieces to wear, and it’s only gotten worse since. About 60% of my wardrobe is vintage. Unfortunately, since moving to the city it has been harder and harder to find fantastic pieces at reasonable prices. The city has a wonderful source of quality vintage pieces however it definitely comes at a premium. There are several shops that I go to, but a big resource for me has become ebay and etsy.  I recently purchased this dress off of one of my favorite ebay sellers. I love the colors and print of this piece and have worn it now on several occasions. What is your favorite place to find vintage online, in store, or at home? 😉

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Simple Life

Image

Since being stuck inside for the last four days curtesy of Sandy, I have been contemplating redecorating the living room. With all the exciting changes going on in my life right now, why not give my apartment a little TLC and a face lift? Here are some gorgeous living room inspirations curtesy of Apartment Therapy. What do you think what is your favorite interior update and quick fix?

Tiny Lovely Doll 10-31-12

Image

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of post’s this week. Fell behind with all the craziness that was Sandy. So without further ado here is our Tiny Lovely Doll post of the week. I really couldn’t choose just one look from the fantastic Spring/Summer collection by Erdem so here are two of my favorite looks. What I loved most about this collection was the unexpected mix of prints with vintage 1950s silhouettes. Apparently, the collection was inspired by sci-fi author Zenna Henderson. Erdem wanted to give his women the feel of other worldliness by mixing python, for a reptilian image, and lace, to represent his classic women. Also his use of clashing color palettes, mixing neons and pastels, gives an over all feel of jarring wrongness that works brilliantly with the typical Erdem style. What do you think of the Spring/Summer ’13 Erdem collection? Love it or hate it?

Happy Halloween everyone!

Stairway to Heaven

Like I mentioned in this post. One of my favorite styles of dress is mixing ultra feminine pieces with masculine accents. This outfit is a perfect example of this. I recently picked up this sweater from one of my favorite vintage shops in the city. I love the soft cozy texture and the fabulous grey color. And the lace up chunky boots have a masculine feel next to the sheer floaty dress. How would you describe your sense of style I would love to know?

Happy Monday!
